Privacy policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026
The short version. Every calculation on this site runs inside your own browser. The figures you type, whether income, deposit, property price or balance, are never sent to us, never stored, and never shared. We have no account system, no lead forms, and we do not sell data to brokers.
Who we are
Mortgages Calculators UK operates the website at mortgagescalculators.co.uk. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the limited personal data described below. You can reach us at [email protected].
Calculator data
All of our calculators are implemented in JavaScript that executes on your device. There is no server-side calculation, no form submission and no API call. When you enter a salary or a property price, that value exists only in your browser's memory and is discarded when you close or reload the page.
This is not a policy promise we ask you to take on trust, because it is how the site is built. You can verify it by opening your browser's network tools while using any calculator: no requests are made.
What we do collect
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard web server logs when a page is requested: IP address, timestamp, the URL requested, referring URL, browser and operating system. These are used for security, diagnosing faults and understanding aggregate traffic. Logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests in operating and securing the website.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics to understand which pages are useful. Where used, it records aggregate page views and referrers without setting cookies, without tracking you across sites, and without building any profile of you as an individual.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests in improving the website.
If you email us, we hold that message and your address for as long as needed to respond and keep a record of any correction you reported. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests in responding to correspondence.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
We do use your browser's local storage for one thing: remembering whether you chose the light or dark theme. That preference is stored on your own device, is not personal data, is never transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. The site works normally without it.
If we introduce advertising in future, any advertising cookies will be subject to a consent banner and this policy will be updated before they are set.
Third parties
We deliberately keep third-party code to a minimum. The site loads no external fonts, no third-party JavaScript libraries and no social media embeds, partly for speed, and partly because each one would be another party receiving your IP address.
Our hosting provider processes server logs on our behalf as a data processor.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to data portability. Because we hold almost no personal data, in practice these rights usually apply only to email correspondence.
To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is aimed at adults considering property finance. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
International transfers
Our hosting and any analytics are configured to keep data within the UK or European Economic Area where possible. Where a transfer outside those areas is necessary, it is made under an appropriate safeguard such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes, for example introducing advertising cookies, will be flagged on the site before they take effect.
